With 2022 coming to a close, we as a team take time to reflect on the past year’s laughs, challenges, and triumphs. Between our incredible clients, coworkers, and contractors, we have everything to be grateful for. Here are just a few of our favorite moments from 2022…
6 DAYS OF HOMEOWNER RESOLUTIONS
As January knocks on the door and everyone plans their New Year’s resolutions, we would like to offer some food for thought as you strategize your goals. Whether you have plans to sell your house in 2023 or you are happily embedded in your home and neighborhood, it is important to keep your property in tip top shape.
Here are twelve of our suggestions to add to your homeowner resolution list for 2023. The Giambra Team has countless trusted contacts to recommend if you need experts to help you make your project plans a reality!
1. MAKE SURE YOUR HOME IS PROPERLY SEALED
Adding insulation around doors and windows is an easy way to keep your home ready for the next Buffalo blizzard. Not only will winterizing your home keep you more comfortable but it will also save you money on your electric bill!
2. CHECK YOUR FURNACE FILTER
Furnace filters keep dust, allergens, hair, and other debris from entering your furnace. It also helps to keep your air clean! If you have a pet or a larger home, you may need to do this as often as once a month. It is recommended that the average home check their filter every 30 days.
3. INSPECT AND CLEAN CHIMNEYS AND FIREPLACES
A fireplace and chimney can potentially be a fire hazard if not properly maintained. Professionals suggest a cleaning and inspection at least once a year depending on how often you use them.
4. VENT YOUR BATHROOM
Mold is destructive and can make you really sick. Moisture creates mold, and showers create moisture. If your home doesn’t already have an exhaust fan to remove humid air and steam from your bathroom, consider installing one!
5. TEST YOUR WATER
Clean water is something that most people don’t think about but is very important in maintaining a healthy home. You should test your water once a year to ensure that you don’t have any unsafe contaminants like lead in your water supply. If you are planning to sell your home this year, you can show potential buyers the results at inspections and showings to put their minds at ease.
6. ROOF MAINTENANCE
The colder months are the perfect time to monitor your roof through the winter for ice dams. Icicles that hang from the roof line are indicative of heat loss and are a potential area for ice dams. This could indicate that you need more insulation in those area.
